MWA Mac Groove E73 Stud Extraction Rods

Made from high alloy duplex micro structured high tensile non heat treatable material. This electrode can maintain a continuous arc when slag over slag welding while restricting the flow of the molten metal. These welding characteristics make the rod perfect for removing threaded bolts when the bolt head has sheared at, or just below the surface.

How do I remove a broken bolt?

• Select the correct diameter stud extraction rod (Roughly 50% of the bolt diameter)
• Make short, continuous build up welds
• Remove welding slag between weld runs & check circumference if built up is within the diameter of the stud
• Repeat until the weld build up is 5MM - 8MM above the component surface
• File two opposite flats on the weld deposit and remove the broken stud by unscrewing it with a pair of mole grips
