Stud welders for industrial welding applications

Stud welding is a welding process that is commonly used for joining studs (round metallic threaded parts) to sheet metal & pipes.

The metalworking and construction industries make prevalent use of stud welders due to the speedy and economy they offering when welding studs to various materials.

There are two types of stud welding process: Capacitor discharge & Drawn Arc. Capacitor discharge is a semi-automatic arc welding process that allows small diameter studs to thin materials. Drawn Arc is a welding process that allows for practically any size weld stud to be welded and can be fully automated. Capacitor discharge is commonly used for welding on sheet metal and Drawn Arc is often used for work with thicker materials such as those that are found in the structural steel industry.

What materials can be welded with a stud welder?

A wide range of materials can be welded by stud welding. Common welding applications include mild steel, stainless steel, brass and aluminium.

How does a stud welding machine work?

A capacitor discharge cd stud welding machine ignites an arc between one end of a weld stud and the workpiece (the base material). When the arc is ignited both the stud and the base material are joined. This process is very quick; a user can typically weld up to 30 studs per minute as the joining process takes less than a second, per stud.

What is the best stud welder brand?

We supply a wide range of stud welding systems from various different brands including Cros Arc, Cutlass Fasteners & Taylor Studwelding. Our most popular high quality stud welding machine is the Cros Arc CD-800 capacitor discharge stud welder. This stud welding equipment is capable of welding M3 - M8 weld studs to a wide variety of materials.

The package in includes the machine, the stud welding gun & the earth return lead.
